The Chichester Gardener - About Us
The Chichester Gardener is run by Edward Bowring, a horticultural therapist and RHS qualified gardener, based in Chichester, West Sussex. Edward has managed and run horticultural therapy gardens promoting the health and well being of clients through growing vegetables, fruit and plants including within the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. This combined with the experience of the planting up and garden maintenance of other commercial sites, led Edward to set up The Chichester Gardener.
Coming from a lineage of gardeners Edward trained in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture, completing the professional development diploma with Coventry University, Thrive and Pershore College. Edward is passionate about everything to do with gardens and with an occupational therapy background, can assist you to enjoy yours, whether as an active or passive participant.
Gardens are our personal spaces that reflect who we are as individuals or organisations, Edward works with you to achieve your goal for you garden either as directed or using his own skills.
As a previous occupational therapist and now qualified horticultural therapist Edward runs groups and one-to-one sessions for those with mental or physical health issues using gardening to promote health and well being.
Edward has an enhanced CRB/DBS check and has experience of working with vulnerable groups from children to older adults.
Edward works with organic principles wherever possible but is qualified (PA1/6) to use something stronger when required.
It is not surprising that Edward, when not at work, is often found pottering in his own garden with his two young children.
